The first question we must ask ourselves is the most fundamental of all: Who am I? We all have our own ideas of who we are supposed to be. As children, we are often told who we are supposed to be, or we make up who we think we are to fit in with the people around us. As we grow older, our ideas of who we are begin to solidify. We begin to realize that our experiences have shaped who we are, and we begin to define ourselves in relation to our experiences.
I’m an entrepreneur, designer, artist, and a human being. I believe in art, expression, love, compassion and living life to the fullest. The concept of ‘Who am I?’ is also a powerful tool to use when searching for your niche.
What is “niche“? Your niche is the one thing you can do better than anyone else. It’s the area of expertise that no one else is as interested or as capable as you are. It’s what you know and love, and where your passion lies. It’s the thing that makes you want to get out of bed every day and keep learning more about it. It’s something that has plenty of potential and room to grow, and that you feel called to share with the world.
If you are starting a new business, the first step in creating a comprehensive personal brand is to figure out who you are. You have to understand your values, your passions, what your goals are, and what you’re about. It requires some introspection and soul-searching. There is an inner part of you that you don’t always get to see. Nobody else knows it either. It’s your soul, your essence, the part of you that makes you who you are.
If you’re having trouble, try writing down the answers to the following questions:
What are your goals?
What do you want to accomplish now that will help you achieve those goals?
How do you want to be perceived by others?
What do you want people to say about you when you’re not alive?
Let me know how you relate to this topic.
